MS Clubs
Below you will find clubs available to Gilbert Middle School students. The club sponsor's name is in parenthesis.

5th and 6th Clubs
Spark! --We will have activities that include health, fitness, community involvement, school spirit, and more! (Clark and Stephens)
Creative Writing --We will write a progressive story, develop writing skills and write and produce a book of poems and short stories. We will also explore various writing contests available to Middle School Students. (Livingston)
Scrapbook--We will scrapbook photos on paper and digitally. Having your own scrapbook supplies is helpful but not required. (Dowling)
Newspaper—We will produce a school newspaper each month (Tiger Times) that includes local news, sports, editorials, and photographs. We also take a field trip to the student run paper at ISU. (Billings)
Create Club--We will learn and practice basic craft skills (sewing, weaving, braiding, knotting, etc.) while creating unique individual and group projects. Members are encouraged to bring projects of any kind from home to work on during a portion of the club time. (Bolar)
Hiking and Recreation—We travel to parks in Story and Boone Counties to hike and explore the outdoors. We also work with Story County Conservation Board for some of the outings and community service opportunities. (Korf and Heitz)
Sports and Games Club--We will play games that include kickball, football, soccer, dodge ball, and basketball. Our focus will be on character building and sportsmanship. (Henryson and Petersen)
F.A.B.-We will have activities that include fashion, arts & crafts, community service, babysitting training, and more. (Kelley and Tomlinson)
Lights, Camera, Action: We will take a look at the history of film, from silent movies to the latest in special effects. We will also make our own movie short using iMovie on the computer. So if you love the movies, you will love this club! (Beecher)
Family Game Night --We will play various board games and card games and other types of family leisure activities-no electronics! (Deal and Knock)
Yearbook—We will be responsible for highlighting the many activities that GMS has to offer. Members will be assigned activities at their given grade level then design and prepare the pages for the yearbook using the yearbook software programs. (Thomas and Nutini)

Science Club--Participate in competitions (and win Prizes!) including: designing a homeless shelter, making a perfect paper airplane, dropping an egg without breaking it, creating unbreakable codes, building telescopes. In addition, members will participate in a community service project to raise awareness and money for homeless teenagers. (Rinehart, Moss, and Himan)
iPod / Music Club --Bring whatever you use to listen to appropriate music and get ready to talk about music, hang out with friends, and have fun! (Barr)
Theater and Film Club--If you are not afraid to be silly at times, but also want to learn about how you can benefit from and enjoy public speaking, acting, and attending film and/or plays/musicals, this club is designed for you. Adventurous spirits encouraged to apply! (Gildehaus)

FCCLA -Join FCCLA (Family, Career, Community Leaders of America) and become a part of a national student-run leadership organization! Activities include bake sales, community service projects, competitions, and field trips. (Kallal)
Gilbert Leaders (GLADD) - This is a leadership club for students who are interested in working together to help others and spread a message of respect and responsibility. In the past, we have planned movie nights, tailgate parties and lunch activities. But what we do this year is up to you! (Danilson)
Fantasy FB/BB – Seasons will start with fantasy football in the fall and winter and continuing with the NCAA tournament in the spring. You will track player stats and see how your team stacks up. In the spring, we will have an innovative bracket challenge and check the results at the conclusion of the NCAA tournament. (Thomas)
Running--Run, run, as fast as you can, you can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Man! Have you always aspired to be the Gingerbread Man? If so, Running Club is for you! Plan to get off campus and hit the trails in the area! All that's needed is a good attitude, running shoes, a water bottle, and a snack! (Herber and Kautman)
Tech Club--If technology class is not enough, come join tech club. We will expand our tech skills and explore Cyber World. (Kruse and Franzen)
